After doing lots of searching, I wanted a very cheap starter kit for sharpening my pocket and hunting knives.

I used it for the first time today and WOW!!! I followed all guidelines when setting it up (not that this is very hard but making sure the rods are even with the stones is important) and sharpened my cheap pocket knife.

This thing is now razor sharp and I started at the coarse stone and worked to the ceramic honing stone. It took about 20 minutes to get through them all and hone it properly.

This knife is extremely sharp and passes the paper test with ease. Amazing results and very robust system.

I love that it was cheap and the stones should last quite a while because they are thick in comparison to some other stones I have seen.

It’s well built and nice quality. Diamonds cut through metal extremely fast don’t take many swipes on it gets the blades hair popping sharp.

I wouldn’t say razor razor sharp but expected when sharpening on 400/600. Solid handles no wobble. And diamonds seems to be glued solidly in place.

Sharpening surface is honeycomb, so it can sharpen faster and more efficient than the oval-shaped sharpening surface.

Stripe is on the handle which can play a important role in anti-skid and the design of concave and convex combining on the tail end of handle prevents handle dislocation when you use it, and avoids folder your fingers.

The fan-shaped and folding construction provides great protection to the stones, preventing from damage.

I bought this not really knowing to expect. I’ve used it sharpen up a couple old pocket knives, and it works pretty well.

If you are looking to put a perfect edge on a knife, this is not for you. But in a emergency kit or for camping etc, it works perfectly.

Fire starter works OK, Again not for prolonged use but in an emergency it’s do the job. Haven’t used the hook sharpener The whistle is loud.

What can you say about a whistle… So a great value, good to throw one in the glove box, one in your pack etc etc.

As far as I can see, there are five tools. I believe they are classifying the hole that you can attach a lanyard to or put a key ring through as the sixth tool.

I really can’t find anything wrong with it or have anything negative to say. There are no plastic parts on this tool and so the weight of it is comparable to that of a pocket knife of similar size.

The case seem to be made of the same materials as a die-cast toy. The surface has some texture to it which helps to have a better grip.

The diamond tapered file is held in either open or close position by strong 1/4 inch square magnets (this was a cools surprise for me as I see it as an additional tool out there in the wild).

It measures 4 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide by 1/2 inch high with rounded corners which makes it very nice to hold and/or carry in my pocket.

In my opinion there was a lot of thought in the design of this tool and seem to be build to last a very long time, however I will let time be the judge of that.

I would most definitely recommend this tool and I for sure will buy another one for a family member.

Good product, but not great. The unit is sturdy and well made with several ingenious features, like the internal broadhead wrenches (found behind the sharpening plates).

I like the compact size and solid build. The rotating ceramic hone is the best feature in my view and does a terrific job of honing an edge.

By the way, the ceramic hone can be removed by driving out the retaining pin just in front of the turning handle.

The diamond sharpening plates are held in place with powerful magnets and can be removed and replaced.

I’m not a huge fan of these plates; the coarse one would only be used to repair a badly damaged edge and the fine one is still too coarse for my liking.

Personally, I much prefer sharpening stones as they generate a more even edge. The leather strop is a nice touch.

Bottom line, good tool to keep your knife functional on a car-camping trip, or to touch up your broad-heads on a hunting trip, but too heavy for the back country canoe trip or backpacking.
